Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and MouthGym. By downloading or using the app, you accept them. If you don't, please don't use the app.
1. What MouthGym is
MouthGym is a language-learning app for practising pronunciation and articulation. It records what you say, compares it to a target, and gives you feedback on the sounds you produced and how to adjust your mouth position.
MouthGym is an educational tool, not a medical service. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide clinical advice for any speech, language, hearing or developmental condition. It is not speech-language therapy and it is not a substitute for a qualified speech-language pathologist. If you have concerns about a speech or hearing condition — for yourself or your child — please see a licensed professional.
2. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use MouthGym on Apple devices you own or control, in line with Apple's App Store Terms of Service. That's it — you don't get ownership of anything.
You may not: copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the app; extract or redistribute its audio, word lists, phoneme data or other content; resell or sublicense access; use the app to build a competing product; or use it in any way that breaks the law.
3. Subscriptions and purchases
MouthGym is free to download and includes free practice. MouthGym Premium unlocks unlimited daily sessions, all seven practice languages, all categories, phoneme recording, sentence practice, Smart Review and weekly reports.
- Premium Monthly — auto-renewing subscription, billed monthly.
- Premium Yearly — auto-renewing subscription, billed annually, and the only plan that includes a 7-day free trial.
- Lifetime Access — a one-time purchase. It is not a subscription and does not renew.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before that date. Manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Prices vary by country and may change. If a price rises, Apple will notify you and ask for your consent before the next renewal, as required.
4. Refunds
All purchases go through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no ability to issue refunds directly, though if something in the app went wrong we'd like to know — email us and we will often support your request.
5. Acceptable use
Use MouthGym for its purpose: practising your own speech. Do not use it to record other people without their knowledge and consent, to attempt to impersonate anyone, to submit content that is unlawful, or to interfere with the app's operation or the services it relies on.
6. Automated feedback has limits
Pronunciation scoring relies on automatic speech recognition and automated analysis. It is genuinely useful and it is genuinely imperfect. Background noise, microphone quality, regional accents, unusual names and rare words can all produce a wrong score. Treat feedback as guidance to practise against, not as an authoritative assessment of your ability, and don't rely on it for any decision that matters — academic, professional or clinical.
Translations and dictionary definitions are machine-generated and may be inaccurate or lack context. Do not rely on them for anything consequential.
7. Availability and changes
We may add, change or remove features, and some features depend on third-party services that can change or become unavailable. We may suspend the service for maintenance. We aim to give notice of significant changes through release notes, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted availability.
8. Intellectual property
MouthGym, its name, design, code, curriculum structure, phoneme data, word lists, diagrams and audio are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to you.
9. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MouthGym is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, that feedback will be correct, or that using it will produce any particular improvement in your speech.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or opportunities, arising from your use of MouthGym. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
11. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for MouthGym or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
12. Termination
You may stop using MouthGym at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these terms. Sections 8 through 11 survive termination.
13. Who we are, and governing law
MouthGym is developed and published by Zakaria Ajaboud, an individual developer, not a company. You can email us at any time.
These terms are governed by the laws of the developer's country of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
If you are a consumer, nothing here removes the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country you live in, and you may always bring proceedings in your local courts.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and material updates will be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use MouthGym after an update means you accept the revised terms.
