Privacy Policy

MouthGym · Last updated 11 August 2026

MouthGym has no accounts, no advertising, and no analytics. Your practice history never leaves your phone. This page explains, precisely, the few things that do.

The short version. We don't know who you are. There is nothing to sign up for, so we hold no name, no email, and no profile. Your streaks, scores and progress are stored on your device. To score your speech and generate example audio, short pieces of text are sent to our processing providers. Your voice recordings are never uploaded to us and never stored. The app has no camera access at all.

Who we are

MouthGym is developed and published by Zakaria Ajaboud. For anything in this policy, write to us and we'll answer.

What stays on your device

All of the following is stored locally, in the app's private storage, and is never transmitted to us:

Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no cloud copy, because there is no account to attach one to.

Your voice

When you tap the microphone, the app records you only for as long as you're speaking, and uses that audio to work out what you said.

What is sent off your device, and why

To score pronunciation, produce native-sounding example audio, and translate text, the app sends short pieces of text to OpenAI, acting as our processing provider. Nothing sent is tied to an identifier, and nothing identifies you.

FeatureWhat is sentWhat is never sent
Pronunciation scoring and feedback The target word or sentence, and the text of what the speech recogniser heard Your audio, your name, any identifier, your history
Example audio (text-to-speech) The word or sentence to be spoken, and the language Anything about you
Pronunciation Dictionary The word you looked up Anything about you

OpenAI processes this data to return a result and does not use it to train its models under the API terms we operate on. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

Purchases

If you buy MouthGym Premium, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details, billing address, or Apple ID.

We use RevenueCat to check whether a purchase is active. RevenueCat assigns your installation a randomly generated, anonymous identifier and records your subscription status against it. That identifier is not linked to your name or email, because we hold neither. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

What we don't do

Children

MouthGym is designed for adults and older learners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will act on it.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and no profile, most data-subject requests resolve instantly and on your own device:

If you are in the EEA or UK, our lawful basis for the limited processing described above is legitimate interest in providing the feature you asked for. If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not discriminate against anyone exercising their rights.

Data retention

We operate no user database, so there is nothing for us to retain. Text sent for processing is held only as long as the provider needs to return a result. Anonymous purchase records persist with RevenueCat for as long as the entitlement is relevant.

Security

All network requests use HTTPS. API credentials are held in the iOS Keychain rather than in plain storage. That said, no method of transmission is perfectly secure, and we don't claim otherwise.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also appear in the app's release notes. Continuing to use MouthGym after a change means you accept the updated policy.
